 Cheryl Nankervis Executive Director
Cheryl has been a resident of Yucca Valley since January 1986. She and Craig, her husband of 38 years, moved here to be close to family. They have two children, two grandsons and their new addition, Gladus (a very lucky puppy).
Cheryl began working at the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce answering telephones on a part-time basis on June 21, 1993. Beginning in August of 1993 she became a full-time employee with various titles including Administrative Assistant, Administrator and Acting Director. She was named the Executive Director in August 1997.

Sara Hutson Member Services
Sara was born in Yucca Valley. Sara and her family remained in Yucca Valley and she proudly graduated from Yucca Valley High School in 1986. Being a true 'go-getter,' Sara worked in the Escrow field off-and-on in her last years of High School, and in 1987 opened "After Hours Notary Service". Around 1993, Sara moved to Northern California, then in 1999 Sara returned "Home" to Yucca Valley and has remained here since. Sara joined the Chamber staff in January 2009.

David Eckenberg President '10/'11
Tumbleweed Photos
Dave, whose professional background is in the arts with an emphasis on technology, is co-owner and photographer of Tumbleweed Photos. Born and raised in Pasadena CA, Dave left San Fernando Valley and moved to the lower desert in 2000. In 2004, Dave relocated preferring the climate and potential of the high desert. Dave is also a graphic designer, a photo restorationist, and does specialty prints. Tumbleweed Photos / Dave hosts receptions for Chaparral Artists and has a permanent art gallery for local artists. Dave's membership in local organizations include BNI, MBCAC, Chaparral Artists, and Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce. Dave volunteers with TLC and Child I.D. photos in cooperation with Jennifer Collins of Farmer's Insurance. Dave is also the official photographer for Miss Yucca Valley Scholarship Contest.

Mike 'Grumpy' Kelliher Past President '09/'10 Thrift Store - Joshua Springs
Grumpy was born in the NE. Grumpy and his wife Peggy have lived in Yucca Valley for 22 years. After they married, Grumpy and Peggy spent 14 years traveling the US and Canada. With the opportunity to live anywhere they wanted, Yucca Valley kept drawing them back because of the small town environment and the friendly people. In 2002 they decided to stay permanently. Grumpy and Peggy have one son and four grandchildren, (who gave him the name 'Grumpy' because they couldn't say 'Grandpa') and two Great granddaughters. Grumpy over-sees The Thift Store (Joshua Springs) and is also a Men's Ministry Leader and a Chaplin. "It is so neat to live in a place that has such a great mix of people and cultures. My wife and I wouldn't live anywhere else."

John has been a resident of the Hi Desert since 1976, graduating from Yucca Valley High School in 1981. John is blessed to be active in his church Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel, along with his wife Patti, the love of his life for seventeen years. They have two children and one grandchild who also all live in Yucca Valley.
John works as a tax accountant at Rarick & Associates and is a member of the Yucca Valley Noon Rotary, and serves on the board of the local Boys & Girls Club.
Some may remember John from his many years on stage as "Slats Smith" one half of the comedy team where he and Ben Costello performed locally and elsewhere doing there brand of slapstick comedy.
"I love this town and everyone in it, I hope to serve our local businesses to assist them to continue to provide the needed resources for the quality of life unique to Yucca Valley".

Jennifer Collins Director Farmers Insurance
Jennifer was born & raised in Chino, California and moved to Yucca Valley in 2003 with her husband Kris and two children, Ashley and Garrett . Her grandparents homesteaded property in the late 1940’s in Pioneertown and so Jennifer visited Yucca Valley often. The majority of her extended family lives here as well. Jennifer has been an insurance agent for several years but recently started her own Farmers Insurance Agency. She became a Board of Directors Member in 2005 and is the current President for the YV Chamber. “I love living in Yucca Valley! I will raise my kids here and want to be a part of our growing community. I believe that as a business owner and a resident of Yucca Valley, that I need to volunteer and do my part to help our community prosper.”

 Carol Vaughn Copper Mountain Broadcasting
Carol Vaughn, a native Californian with five adult children, was a resident of La Quinta from 1977 until her move to Landers in November 2004. A stay-at-home mother who assisted her husband with their concrete contracting business, she began her radio career at KCMJ-AM/FM in 1996 in Palm Springs. Morris Communications purchased KCMJ in 1997 along with 5 other stations. Carol then became their Business Manager for all seven stations until 2002. Carol re-joined Gary DeMaroney in 2004 as the Business Manager here at Copper Mountain Broadcasting. Carol is delighted to be a director on the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce, and as Chair of the Scholarship Foundation looks forward to all the exciting months ahead. |
