• Let someone at home know your itinerary.  If you are delayed or stranded, they will know where to start looking for you.
• Learn about the area you are visiting.  Contact the Chamber of Commerce for maps and information.
• Be prepared for the unexpected.  Temperature changes and sudden flash flooding require immediate adjustments in clothing and strategies.

• Essential Equipment

• Dress in layers for changing weather conditions
• Sturdy walking shoes or boots; Sunglasses
• UNSCENTED Sunscreen (doesn’t attract insects)
• FOOD; at least one gallon of WATER per day/person
• When you have consumed one-half of your water, turn around and go back
• Maps, compass (note landmarks as you travel)
• First Aid Kit
• Cell Phone with extra battery
